It seems as Covid as all but died down. Everyone around me no longer wears masks or cares about social distancing. The days of being locked down seem like ages ago now. But… Covid still menacingly lurks in the background of our lives. Although getting sick with Covid now is more like a seasonal flu, it still has it’s dangers.

People quietly disappear for a few weeks and when you see them again, they tell you they tested positive. Much as we want it to completely go away, it’s still happening.

Here’s a step by step account of my Covid experience.

Day 0 — Friday, Sep 8

I went out for dinner on this seemingly lovely Friday night. I ordered a pork katsu meal and polished off the entire thing. Later that night, I went to badminton as usual. My stomach was feeling bloated and I felt gassy. I chalked it down to something I ate. I figured I just needed to let out some gas and I’d be golden. The severe bloating and gas pains continued through the night. At one point, I doubled over in pain for a few seconds before the sensation passed. Finally, I went home and got to bed. The pains continued overnight and I developed a severe pounding headache. I didn’t sleep…
