The Mental Challenge of Covid Was More Than I Bargained For
We know the physical symptoms are debilitating, but don’t underestimate the mental impacts..
When I tested positive for Covid on Sep 10, I knew I was in for a battle. The infection started with bad bloating and gas pains, which then progressed to a pounding headache. Soon enough, other symptoms like coughing and chills followed suit. The only thing to do was to let my body rest and fight off the unwelcome intruders. Everyone wants a fast recovery and I was no different. Who wants to be sick, let alone with Covid?
Day after day, I lay in bed, sleeping and taking meds. I drank my water and did what I could to make myself feel better. As my body fought it’s war, my mind decided to chime in. Because, why not? Aside from suffering with the physical symptoms, I was also miserable with the fact that I was laying in bed every day. I’m normally an active person and constantly move around during the day. Either I’m taking walks, doing yoga, playing badminton, stretching or moving around for the heck of it.
With exercise out the window, I feel so lost. Prior to Covid, I was working hard on building up my fitness and strength levels. I was doing yoga every day and just started doing deadbug exercises every day to work on my core. I was also…
