Would You Eat Something Super Stinky?

If you visit Malaysia, you’ll hear people talking about durian.

What is durian? It’s a scary looking fruit with a lot of spikes, popular in Southeast Asia. The most special thing about it is the smell. It smells like something rotting, poop, garbage…you get the idea, right?

I’ve smelled it many times before, but I have not eaten it before! I can’t get past the smell.

Whenever I go to Malaysia, I see it for sale everywhere.

Last time I went to Malaysia, my friends insisted on eating it. So, they bought one. I found out you need a hammer or huge knife to cut it open! It seemed like a whole complicated operation. When it was cut open, the stench filled the air! I politely declined, while they enjoyed the fruit.

People who enjoy eating it don’t think it’s stinky at all! They even tell me it smells so good.
